Easter Special 2016

Welcome to the The Ideal Canadian's Easter Special!

In this episode Kawlin Rolfe and Nicola Scott have a chit chat about domestic rabbits, with particular attention paid to North American bunnies.

Sit back as we talk about proper rabbit care and concerns many pet owners are not so aware of, and for comic relief I'll be talking about Easter facts (because I wanted to feel important in this episode.)

Apologies if the audio quality is not up to par for you audiophiles.  This is what happens when you have 0$ as a production value.

In this episode Kawlin Rolfe and Clay Everest critique Canadian beer ads.  We felt these ads were a big part of Canadian media of the 90's/early 2000's, and it's something that doesn't seem to be as relevant in the current digital era.  Maybe it is still relevant, but will people in the future look back on them with the same nostalgic goggles?

Who knows?!

Episode 1: Testing the Water with Canadian Heritage Minutes

Hello and welcome to the official 1st episode of The Ideal Canadian!

Audio for this episode can be found on the following platform(s):

If you are one of those weirdos that followed us before we changed names, then this may be a bit of a shock for all 0-3 of you.

In this episode Kawlin Rolfe and Clay Everest discuss their thoughts on a neat bit of Canadian popular culture known as the Heritage Minutes.

The Heritage Minutes are a series of very short films produced by Historica Canada.  If you're a Canadian child of the 90's or 80's it's very likely you grew up with these minutes in your life.

If you're a Canadian that doesn't know what we're talking about, well here's a link to some of the most amazing Canadian pop-media you can find: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheHDInstitute

NEWS: Introduction to this Blog

Welcome to the launch of The Ideal Canadian blog!

The Ideal Canadian on Archive GDrive:

Currently, this space is being used as a platform for The Ideal Canadian podcast.  In the future, my self or Clay (or anyone that has an interesting blog idea) might end up writing articles, but in the meantime we will be limiting our posts to just the podcast.

The Ideal Canadian is an amateur podcast hosted by Kawlin Rolfe and Clay Everest.  The goal and structure of this podcast is loose and will likely change as we get more full episodes under our belt.  Our episodes are aimed at everything we think fits into Canadian culture (books, music, movies, news, you name it!)

In a perfect world, we will be uploading episodes every second Wednesday (this scheduling will begin March 30th -with episodes being posted every second week thereafter.)

We are currently on the hunt for guest co-hosts, so if you would like to hop in on a conversation feel free to comment or attempt to contact Kawlin Rolfe directly.

NOTE- You can stream our most recent episodes through our soundcloud account, however if you want to take us on the go or download our files then we have set up an archive on Google Drive for you!

Back Story/Why a blog:

The original plan for this podcast was for us to use Soundcloud.com as our hosting platform. This, however, didn't really work out (they have upload limits, and neither one of us feel like this hobby of ours is worth the investment..yet!)

I then attempted to relocate to Youtube, but each episode earned a strike on my account (and youtube.com has yet to get back to me about appealing the decision.)

This meant searching the best way to continue delivering content in the most economical way possible (in other words we're trying to do this on the cheap.)  So here I am, creating another blog page to have some place for internet representation.  Audio files are currently located in a Google Drive Folder where they can be downloaded -I'm hoping to get some sort of streaming service lined up, but for now you will have to download the audio files.

This post will be updated as time goes on, and I'll also post news if there are major changes.

Thanks for checking out our quaint operation, we look forward to adding content and hopefully not just uploading into the void!
